If you can handle the crowds and the hotel sky-rise coastline, the surfing in Gold Coast, Australia is fantastic.  This is one of the most famous surf spots in the world and when the swell is good it's amazing!

Ambience:  Great beach for kids and hanging out.  Not the most naturally scenic beach as it is pretty built up all around.  Wlak out to Snapper's Rock for the best put in spot.
