Surfing in Hermosa Beach, California, USA

When you think California surfing, you probably imagine a place just like Hermosa Beach, California, USA.  Big, crowded, wide open beach with a pier.  This is a fun spot and the surf is quite reliable compared to other spots in the LA area.  It can get crowded by the pier, but if it is just walk down the beach a little.

Ambience:  Gets crowded but a friendly crowd for the most part.  There is a town with food and drink just 1 block from the beach.  This is a good beach with kids - lots of places to run and throw sand at each other.

Public Parking:  No.  Street parking.

Public Showers:  Yes.  Showers here.

Public Restrooms:  Yes.  Same location as showers.

Transportation:  Need a car.

Nearest Airport:  Los Angeles (LAX) or Long Beach (LGB) - fly into LGB if you can much easier airport then LAX.

Alternative Surf Spots

Down the beach to the left as you face the ocean is a large jetty that can take large swell and is fun when it gets going.
