Surfing in San Diego, California, USA

Surfing in San Diego is both fun and challenging.  There are lots of great surf spots to choose from from but also lots of crowds at the most popular places.  This write-up is for Ocean Beach which usually holds the most consistent surf and largest since it kind of juts out the farthest into the ocean.  Also, I spent a summer here as a college student so it's near to my heart.

Alternative Surf Spots

Coronado Beach is about 30-45 minutes from here.  It's a better beach for hanging with kids and getting away from the city life.  The surf is pretty good here unless it's a steep north swell.
